During a recent stay in Japan I visited Fukuoka farm on several occasions, going into the fields and orchards with the workers to draw. The farm is known for the book ‘The one straw revolution’ written by Masanobu Fukuoka. When Fukuoka saw the balance between soil, plants and insects being disturbed with the introduction of western agriculture in Japan, he started to think about a different approach to farming. Turning to nature and mimicking what he saw as closely as possible. Fukuoka farm still exists today and is run by his grandson.
